Trauma Assessments and Evaluations

Trauma-Informed care is a priority at Caillier Clinic.  When referrals come in for trauma-related treatment, a client may be recommended to undergo a thorough trauma evaluation to help determine the client’s specific needs set.  This will start with a general screening of the client’s trauma history.  By conducting a general screening, the Caillier Clinic specialist will be able to see if an evaluation is appropriate and needed.  If it is determined that an evaluation is not necessary, the client would move into the treatment planning process.  If it is determined that an evaluation is necessary, the client would work with a Caillier Clinic specialist to schedule that and begin the evaluation process.

A trauma evaluation could involve up to 3 sessions with different providers at Caillier Clinic.  The first step of the trauma evaluation process involves an intake session where the client will sign the necessary paperwork and give a Caillier Clinic therapist background information that would include their medical history, mental health history, family history, educational history, vocational history, and the current problem areas that they are seeing.  The next step would involve the client meeting with the Caillier Clinic psychometrist to undergo testing relevant to their trauma history.  This testing will better determine the client’s trauma diagnoses and what their specific needs are.  Extensive and thorough testing will be done in order to cover all necessary areas.

Once the intake session and the testing is complete, a Caillier Clinic therapist, with the help of Dr. Caillier, would look at the findings from the trauma assessments and develop recommendations for the client regarding their treatment.  The therapist would meet with the client and any other parties (social workers, family members, etc.) to present the recommendations.  Recommendations may include individual therapy with specific trauma-informed therapy modalities, family therapy, medication management, further testing, and other follow up services.  Following the recommendations, the team would work together to develop a treatment plan with the wanted services.

Trauma evaluations can occur with clients of all different age ranges and specific assessments will be chosen to accommodate this.  Caillier Clinic specialists will work closely with the client, and any supportive parties, to ensure that the client is receiving the best care and that the recommendations given are best matched to their needs.  If outside services are needed, Caillier Clinic specialists will help to make referrals and work with these organizations to ensure that the client is receiving the help that they need. Â
